Our latest edition of Moi-Même, the Tropical Box, has been so fitting for the endless sunshine we’ve seen this summer. As the founder of Moi-Même the ideas, themes and product choices are down to me and, I have to say, of all the tasks involved in running the business, it’s up there as one of my favourites.
When I curate our boxes, I like to put together a mood board: nothing fancy, I just save images here and there to give me ideas. For the Tropical Box I had visions of sandy beaches, citrus scents and lazy summer days. Here’s some insights into how the box came about:
The signature gift in our Tropical Box is the pouch from Elizabeth Scarlett, a brand I’ve been a massive fan of for some time. I adore all of the designs we included in the box but the newly launched lemon design deserves a special mention.
The fruit seems to be having a moment this year and the lemon print dresses that kept popping up on my Insta feed formed a central part of the inspiration:

Right: Margot Lemon Print Poplin Sundress by Monsoon, £59
Palm leave and palm trees will always be at the heart of anything tropical, of course. I particularly love monstera leaves for their shape, size and lushness and, after a really quite lengthy search, came across a set of illustrations by Emerald and Ivy Studios on Etsy. We combined artist Cate’s watercolour design with calligraphy lettering to create the personalised compact mirror featured in the box:
I also fell in love with artist Nikki Strange‘s designs when I met her at a trade show. Nikki is incredibly talented and I love how she incorporates elements of wellness and self care into her range, something that’s so important to us here at Moi-Même. Her Paradise Palms Wellness Planner was just the perfect fit for the box but she has so many other summery designs:
I’m a major accessories fan (I have a wardrobe dedicated entirely to handbags…) and I originally wanted to include a basket bag in the Tropical Box. Sadly sizing and cost meant it wasn’t to be this time, but I loved the brown tones of all the different basket bags out there and this carried through to the beauty brands we chose to partner with:
I love the coppers and browns of Isla Apothecary and Evolve Organic Beauty’s packaging and think they complement the green of the palm leaf designs so well.
While hunting for potential bags I came across Betsy & Floss – my find of the summer. I fell in love with their range of straw bags so much that I made sure we stocked them in our shop. You all clearly love them too as we’ve sold so many, particularly the Palermo. I think we’re on our fourth restock!

Right: Betsy & Floss Corfu Circular Straw Bag, £60
I absolutely love lying on a beach in a hot country, cocktail in one hand and a book in the other. This year is all about staycations for our family though and, even if we could escape to more tropical climes, we’d have little ones in tow so there wouldn’t be much relaxation involved! Instead, I’ve spent many an evening wistfully browsing luxury hotels and villas online. Here’s a few on my wishlist that made it to the mood board:
One can but dream!
Our Tropical Box has very nearly sold out but we’re busy getting everything ready for our Autumn edition. I’m also coming up with ideas for future boxes and would love to hear your thoughts – what themes and products would you love to see from Moi-Même?
